Spiritual healing. What is it? Who is it for?
"The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, a spiritual understanding of him, an unselfed love." — Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
Christian Science is both a religious teaching and a Bible-based system of spiritual healing. The Bible — especially the teachings and healings of Christ Jesus — form the basis of Christian Science and its system of spiritual healing. Christian Science is available to all. More about Christian Science.
Students of Christian Science regard it as a way of life — as the promised "Comforter"of the ages. It is in the spirit of love that they bring this web site to the community along with the special joy and regeneration they have found in the study of this enlightening system of Christian healing.
All are welcome to attend Sunday services, Sunday School (up to the age of 20), Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and to visit our Reading Room located in the church building.

An occasional newsletter for Assistant Committees on Publication in New York State
“It shall be the duty of the Committee on Publication to correct in a Christian manner impositions on the public in regard to Christian Science, injustices done Mrs. Eddy or members of this Church by the daily press, by periodicals or circulated literature of any sort.” (Article XXXIII, Section 2, of the Church Manual)
New York Legislation
This January begins the second half of the two-year legislative session for New York. The legislative focus for this year is health care, health care providers and religious practice. To this end, the Committee office is tracking legislation and will continue to meet with Legislators to discuss bills that require amendment specific to these priorities. We are also tracking legislation on additional issues particular New York State.
We have been meeting with Legislators to request that state lawmakers include coverage of Christian Science practitioner and nursing services in the benefits that will be offered by health insurance plans through the state insurance exchanges in compliance with the national health care law - the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). This inclusion would be consistent with the long history of government accommodations for Christian Science health services in Medicare, Medicaid, and other government Health Care plans.
In October and November, we met with the sponsors of the New York Health plan bill, Assemblyman Gottfried and Senator Perkins, along with his Community Liason, Linda Woodguy, to discuss the inclusion of Christian Science care. Both offices were favorable to an inclusion in the health plan bill. We will be continuing to be in communication with these Legislators, along with other NY Legislators in support of this important issue.
Federal Health Care
Brief update on health care reform law from the Committee on Publication, U.S. Federal Office
Beginning in 2014, under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), virtually all Americans will need to have a medical health insurance plan that meets federal requirements or pay a tax penalty. (Those who are enrolled in Medicare or another government health plan will be treated as complying with the law; those enrolled in an employer-sponsored health plan should check with their employer to confirm whether the plan is ACA-compliant.)
So, like other Americans, Christian Scientists should think through their options under the ACA and how to comply with the law.
Here is some information you may find helpful:
Christian Science coverage not included in state exchanges for 2014
Over the past two years, the U.S. Federal Office has diligently worked to secure the inclusion of Christian Science health care services in health insurance plans offered at the state insurance marketplaces. We are deeply grateful for governmental receptivity to insurance coverage of this kind.
However, because of the time crunch that insurance carriers experienced because of state and federal governmental delays, it ultimately was not possible for Christian Science health care services to be included in the state exchanges for 2014.
Congressional exemption solution still uncertain
The U.S. Federal Office continues to pursue a legislative solution with Congress that would enable those with sincerely held religious beliefs against purchasing the required medical insurance to apply for an exemption.
There is strong support for this solution among members of Congress; however, we cannot guarantee that Congress will act on the legislation this year.
